1Gbpsでデータを伝送するイーサネット標準規格群．ギガビットイーサネットは，ファイバチャネル物理レイヤ（8B/10B符号化）を採用して，1250メガボーでデータを伝える．短縮形はGBE．GBE標準規格はIEEE 802．3zで決められている．

A group of Ethernet standards in which data is transmitted at 1Gbit per second. Gigabit Ethernet carries data at 1250 Megabaud using an adaptation of the Fibre Channel Physical Layer (8b/10b encoding); Abbreviated GBE. GBE standards are handled by IEEE 802.3z.
